Michael is one of the easiest people to talk to. As most people know, it’s very difficult to be vulnerable when putting your complete trust in someone you know nothing about. Michael came to my house to do a cleansing. When he was done, I could not believe the difference in the way the house felt. It became my house again. More then that, as Michael was about to leave, he noticed my back was hurting. I had surgery in April & it was really hurting again. He offered to help. I lay down on the couch & he put his hand on my back. Within 5 mins, my pain went from a 8 to a 2. As the day went on, it was gone completely. I’m always skeptic about everything because there are so many scammers now days. I can first tell you that when you enter, the atmosphere is very relaxing. No negative energy! I won’t say her name because she didn’t mention that it was okay to make it public. The young lady is very nice and easy to talk to. What she told me was pretty accurate although I felt there was some things she should have picked up on, but didn’t. I think I expected a little more. All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend her if you have unanswered questions or need direction. She knew things about my ancestors that no one knows outside of my close family and she had incredible insight on my current situation. I can honestly say, she know her stuff.

I’ve been exploring spiritual, oddity, and novelty shops in Birmingham recently and on Thursday, July 20th, I visited Magic City Conjure. I browsed their book collection and bought some coffee and iced tea. When I finished my drinks, I walked toward the counter to ask if they had a trash can and the horn on a unicorn incense holder on the edge of a table caught my shirt, slid to the floor, and broke. The employee directed me that I needed to stay in the store until they contacted the owner. The employee told me the owner said “You break it, you buy it.” That hurt because I’m a large person and it was a genuine accident. I did not pick it up and play with it carelessly, nor break it out of malice. I was forced to purchase it, but the employee was sympathetic, pointing out that the store wasn’t very disabled-friendly, as there is a step at the front door and was not wheelchair-accessible, though I am not in a wheelchair, and the tables were pushed together close enough to make it difficult for larger people to navigate through, with the addition of much of the merchandise sitting close to the edges where they could be easily knocked over. I paid and left, and the entire interaction felt wrong. I learned through friends later that “You break it, you buy it” is not an enforceable law, and that a merchant should try to get the shopper’s personal information in case they’d like to pursue damages in civil court, but a merchant cannot hold you and make you pay right then and there. I am distressed from being told to stay there and pay, when it was a simple accident, and will not give my business to them in the future, nor suggest that anyone give them their business, especially to a store that portrays itself as being inclusive while not being inclusive to disabled people, and not knowing merchant laws. I am not asking this owner for a refund. I just ask that they make the store more accommodating in the future by adding a ramp, spacing the merchandise tables farther apart, learn that they cannot force someone to pay for broken merchandise on the spot, and push any delicate or pricy merchandise away from the edges so that no more shoppers have an accident and go through the same humiliating experience I had. This store owner showed negligence and zero understanding.
